CAPTAIN ATOM: YESTERDAYS ONCE MORE In Las Vegas, Miss Del Gado host the meeting of the "Friends of Captain Atom"—people who met the superhero Captain Atom when his very existence was a secret unheard of by the rest of the world, and have since sworn to secrecy until now. Each member share their unique tales of the hero. General Datko witnessed the birth of Captain Atom when he was at Cape Kennedy overseeing the launch of a Atlas rocket. A highly skilled specialist was working inside the rocket and was accidentally trapped inside due to a dropped screwdriver. The man was launched into space where the rocket exploded which transformed the man into Captain Atom. Buddy Larson recalled having met Captain Atom when he was a terminally ill young child. The Captain took Buddy in a jaunt to outer space and visiting the solar system's asteroid belt where Buddy's illness is cured from being expose to one of the asteroids' strange elements. Husband and wife Harry and Matilda Denison were once rescued by the Captain during their wedding anniversary when they were accidentally sent adrift in a naval nuclear testing area. Former Soviet cosmonaut Uri Voskof was saved by the Captain from burning up in his space capsule during his reentry back to Earth where Captain Atom safely maneuvered the capsule onto a Russian ship. The rescue was silenced by the Soviet government, who refused to acknowledge an American superhero had saved the life of their cosmonaut. After the group finished their stories, Miss Del Gado consult with General Wade Eiling and Doctor Megala on the "Friends of Captain Atom," who are actually paid actors preparing for their roles in an Captain Atom TV documentary. Eiling find that there are several flaws and inconsistencies in the actors' scripts, and he wants several changes to be made to ensure the Captain Atom cover story is legit. ROCKET RED: DID YOU HEAR THAT ONE...? G'NORT: THE SECRET ORIGIN OF G'NORT In the crowded city of Squashedbush, G'nelson and G'nancy Gneesmacher had a son they called G'nort. As a baby, G'nort's wellfare was a stressful task for his parents. Occasionally, his mother would try to calm the boy by dropping him from the roof of the house. Years passed, G'nort grew up and started attending school, where he only listened when the teacher spoke about the legendary Green Lantern G'newmann G'noggs (who, according to G'nelson, was a distant relative of the Gneesmachers). G'nort's grades were disappointing, and his parents were ashamed of him. In time, G'nort left the house, and his parents didn't even notice. G'nort wandered alone, until he found the Green Lantern G'newmann G'noggs. G'newman, instead of a distant relative, turned out to be G'nort's uncle, and he tried to teach his nephew about the Green Lanterns. By the time G'nort was twenty years olg, G'newmann spoke to the Guardians to admit G'nort into the Corps. After lots of insistence, the Guardians finally accepted G'newmann's request for G'nort. G'nort quit his job as pizza deliverer, cut his hair, and after fourteen years of training, he became a Green Lantern, assigned to a space sector that had no life forms larger than an amoeba.
